Mirror Drawing
Symmetry is the cheat code. Draw one half of a face, a butterfly wing, a leaf — and let the mirror finish the other half. Start with the vertical mirror, pick a brush you like, and draw slowly: the mirror rewards steady lines far more than fast ones.
Tracing isn't cheating — it's how every artist learns the shape of things. Pick a sketch from the gallery, load it onto the canvas, and follow its lines with your own hand. Go over the same sketch three times: once slowly, once at normal speed, once from memory. The third one is yours.
Shade one side first, then mirror it — but leave one small difference. A slightly darker shadow on one side, a highlight that only appears once: that tiny asymmetry is what makes a mirrored drawing feel alive instead of stamped out.
Ten minutes a day beats a three-hour session once a month. One idea from the Drawing Ideas page, one sketch, one download. In a month you'll have thirty drawings — and the thirtieth will surprise you.
